Petal
The Piglet Who Beat the Odds
Petal was just three days old when she was thrown over a fence and left to die.
She wandered onto a building site, where some kind builders found her and handed her to a young woman who took her in straight away. Petal’s tail was badly infected, she needed a vet, and she was very hungry. Her first proper meal was in a Tesco car park.
For the next few weeks, Petal’s life was sleeping, playing, eating, more playing and lots of cuddles. Along the way she showed everyone around her what pigs are really like: clever, clean, affectionate, and every bit as loving as a dog.
But Petal was going to grow far too big for a home, and she needed friends of her own kind. Finding her a safe place for life wasn’t easy. Then her rescuer found Tower Hill.
Saying goodbye was the hardest thing her rescuer had ever done. But Petal soon found her feet. She met Petunia, who quickly became her best friend, along with Hugo and the rest of the gang. Her rescuer still gets regular updates and has been back to see her. Petal hasn’t forgotten her.
Today Petal is safe, loved and growing up exactly as a pig should.
Why Petal needs sponsors
Petunia is happy to be paid in belly rubs. Sadly, belly rubs don’t pay the bills.
Feeding and bedding the animals here costs thousands of pounds every month. This year’s drought has pushed the price of haylage up a lot.
Sponsorship helps us meet the ongoing costs of:
Feed and bedding as Petal grows
Routine and emergency veterinary care
Secure housing and enrichment
Our lifelong promise that Petal will always be safe
Be part of Petal’s future
Petal’s story has already been watched by thousands of people. Sponsoring her means you become part of what happens next.
By sponsoring Petal, you help turn a piglet nobody wanted into a pig with a lifetime of safety, friendship and care.
Thank you for standing with us, and with her.
You will have the option for a one-off payment, or a monthly recurring payment which you can cancel at any time. If you choose a subscription, you will have to create an account to be able to manage the subscription and make any changes.
