This January, Fiona will undertake her most extreme challenge yet: a 100-mile endurance race across the Sahara Desert.
Unlike other ultra-distance events that are broken into stages, this race is a single, continuous, self-supported effort with a strict 40-hour time limit. Fiona will face:
Towering sand dunes
Treacherous rocky climbs and descents
Dried salt lakes
Temperatures reaching 50°C by day and freezing conditions at night
The ever-present risk of sandstorms
She is taking this on not just as a personal test, but to promote veganism and to raise vital funds to keep the sanctuary running through winter and beyond.
““It is my attempt to secure the future of those who have already found sanctuary, and to negate the need for such refuge for animals in generations to come.””
We are also incredibly lucky to have a generous supporter who will be matching donations up to £25,000! This means your donations will be doubled!
