Abigail is the little pig who got away.
In October 2026, 20 pigs were let loose on the A127 near Dunton in Essex, and the road was closed for four hours. Not all of them survived.
One little pig slipped away and hid in somebody’s garden. That was Abigail.
We heard about her that night. By lunchtime the next day, she was due to be shot. Martin picked up the phone and asked for time to rescue her, and Abigail came home to Tower Hill Stables.
Today she is safe. She has food, shelter and company, and she has a future that’s hers to keep. She’ll never have to run again.
Caring for a rescued pig is a commitment for her whole life, not just the day she arrives.
Sponsorship helps us meet the ongoing costs of:
Feed and bedding
Routine and emergency veterinary care
Secure housing and enrichment
Our lifelong promise that Abigail will never face that danger again
So many people were moved by the A127 pigs. Sponsoring Abigail is a way to turn that feeling into something lasting for one pig who made it.
By sponsoring Abigail, you help give her a long, safe, peaceful life.
Thank you for standing with us, and with her.
You will have the option for a one-off payment, or a monthly recurring payment which you can cancel at any time. If you choose a subscription, you will have to create an account to be able to manage the subscription and make any changes.
