We need a new tractor!
With the demands on Fiona's time to talk at various festivals around the world promoting the vegan message, we have to up our game at the Sanctuary
Currently we have a number of agricultural vehicles to do the grunt work when it comes to clearing muck and moving tonne bales of hay & straw around - However - we are still relient on external help from different Farmers when it comes to some of the regular weekly tasks as they have the vehicles to travel between our locations
We recently acquired a 20 year old JCB telehandler whch is perfect at the new farm site - but we still need a road worthy tractor of sufficent power to do all the big work at the Tower Hill Site as well as 2 of the key satallite yards local to the Farm. Telehandlers are great at what they do, but a tractor has considerable more flexibility
This vehicle needs to be in the 100hp range and be roadworthy and we need one that will last for many years
Via our main feed merchant, we have located the perfect vehicle, its a 90hp Claas tractor with only 600 hours work - its worth around £40k at least, but we can get it for around £30k if we act quickly
Importantly it has a front loader already fitted and it has not seen any heavy use - absolutely perfect for the sanctuary and will end our relience on using external parties whose ethics do not really align with a vegan run sanctuary
If you can help make this happen for Fiona and the gang it will be a milestone in the Sanctuarys continued development
What will the tractor be able to do that we cant do at the moment? - It will be able to harrow the fields at the farm site - essential for paddock maintenance, It will be able to run a range of applications from its rear PTO such as a paddock topper (which we have, but have nothing to run it!) It will be able to pull the 10 ton muck trailers & take the manure to where we can dump it locally, it wil be able to put straw in for the pigs, it will be able to dig out the barns at the Tillingham site and at the Dengie site - all these things and more we currently have to pay farmers to do - we want to end that & you can help make that happen :)
