A Message from Bart
By Bartholomew Hornblower
Hello.
My name is Bartholomew Hornblower, although most people around here just call me Bart.
If you've seen the photographs, I'm the handsome Highland chap with the rather impressive curly horns. Before anyone mentions it, yes, I know Flora has managed to wear half a hay bale as a hat and somehow attracted more attention than I have. Life isn't always fair.
Anyway, I wanted to say something on behalf of all of us.
When people talk about hay, it's easy to think of it as just dry grass stacked in a barn somewhere. Not particularly exciting. Not particularly interesting.
We have a very different view.
To us, hay is breakfast.
It's lunch.
It's dinner.
It's comfort on a cold morning.
It's something to munch while chatting to your neighbours over the fence.
And for many of us, it's the foundation of every single day.
And, of course, there are several photographs of my fellow Highlands and me demonstrating the correct way to enjoy it.
Very enthusiastically.
The humans tell us they've recently secured 350 Heston bales for the months ahead. Apparently that's a lot of hay. Personally, I don't think there's any such thing as "a lot of hay", but the humans seem quite pleased about it.
What we do understand is that many of those bales have only been secured because of the kindness of people like you.
Every donation, every share, every purchase and every word of encouragement helps fill those barns and hay stores.
The result?
When winter arrives, we won't be worrying about whether there is enough forage.
Instead, we'll be concentrating on the important things in life.
Finding the best bits.
Eating more than our fair share.
And looking innocent when someone notices hay stuck all over our faces.
So, from me, Flora, Dennis, Olivia, Chester, Kia, Bill, Percy, Rose and all of the other residents at Tower Hill Stables...
Thank you.
Your support doesn't just buy hay.
It buys peace of mind.
It buys full hay nets.
It buys warm tummies on cold mornings.
And it allows all of us to enjoy the life we have here.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I think Flora has found another bale to wear.
